Hello Ballet Beauties! Here is a roundup of a few things we are loving right now:
Watch: Ballet 422
We recently watched the documentary, Ballet 422, which provides an intimate peek into all the elements that are involved in the formation of a ballet company’s original piece. The film shadows Justin Peck, a young choreographer of the New York City Ballet, as he undertakes the gargantuan task of creating the company’s 422
ndoriginal piece while also fulfilling his role as a Corps de Ballet member. We especially loved how the documentary showed all the elements that go into producing a ballet, such as the musicians, designers, stage managers, technicians and dancers.
Wear: That Ballerina Style
Fall fashion is finally here and we could not be more excited about mixing our dance clothes with classic streetwear pieces. One of our favorite looks is wearing a stylish leotard as a top and pairing it with a maxi skirt or high-waisted jeans. The leotard gives the whole outfit a sleek, streamlined look. It is also perfect for layering with cropped sweaters or wrap cardigans and still looks light and delicate. This instantly creates a ballet street-wear look that is feminine, edgy and fresh.
Play: Villoid
We are loving style icon Alexa Chung’s new app, Villoid! It is a fun way to dress up and experiment with clothes from all of your favorite brands. Whether you are shopping for the perfect date night outfit or just want to scroll through the latest trends, you can do it on Villoid. Apparently Alexa was inspired to create Villoid by Cher’s closet in Clueless. Anything that makes Cher’s closet come to life is an A+ in our book!
Read: The Nightingale
We’ve fallen in love with The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. Prepare yourself for lots of tears and the powerful urge to travel to France! The book gives an intimate look at Occupied France and WWII from a woman’s perspective. It tells the stories of two sisters fighting for survival, love and basic human freedom in war-torn France. It is a heart-wrenching novel that highlights the strength and sacrifice of women.
