Make: Smoothies
With the weather getting warm, we are craving light, refreshing drinks. Smoothies are always a delicious snack and a great way to get some healthy nutrients. Some of our favorite smoothie ingredients are: fresh organic fruits such as berries, bananas and peaches, organic greek yogurt, organic honey and a tablespoon of peanut butter if you need something a little more filling!
Visit: Your Local Farmer’s Market!
Mary Helen loves shopping at her local farmer’s market once or twice a week in the summer. During this time, it’s filled with fresh salad greens, tomatoes and the yummiest local fruits. The more fresh fruits and veggies you eat the better you feel, and during this time you have a wonderful selection of produce to choose from!
Go: Swimming!
A wonderful exercise to pair with
Ballet Beautiful is swimming! It is a great way to incorporate extra cardio that is low impact, so it is easy on your joints. Mary Helen loves to hit the pool during the summer months. Her favorite strokes are breaststroke and the crawl. When you are swimming make sure to think about extending your arms long through the water and gliding along the top. You can pull tight through the abs and add extra kick in the legs to increase the burn!
